We also work on long-term pieces for festivals and recitals throughout the year if they are interested in playing for those. I strongly encourage them to participate in these, helping them to feel confident and secure in these performances. I have been teaching music lessons as a music therapist since 2007 and have much experience with adapted lessons for students with developmental disabilities and other limitations.  I started teaching typical lessons in addition to adapted lessons in 2013 and it has been an added joy for me. I knew from an early age that I wanted music to be an integral part of my life. I began taking piano lessons at age 8, and pipe organ lessons at age 15, from my church's Minister of Music. I spent my school years playing for weddings, recitals, competitions, church services, community theater events, and of course, for my own enjoyment!
