Hi! I'm Maeve. I am a professional soprano with 13 years of instruction and 4 years of paid experience as a performer under my belt. Since 2011, I have attended voice programs at Interlochen Center for the Arts, Brevard Music Center, and VOICExperience, and I regularly work in churches and sing weddings. I recently graduated from the University of Kentucky, where I studied with Dr. Dennis Bender. I began teaching piano my sophomore year of college. During my college career, I built up a studio of nearly 20 students, tutored college-level piano courses, and worked as a Teacher's Assistant in Sight Singing and Aural Training. Since then, I taught for two years at a Summer Music Conservatory in Texas, led week-long keyboard intensive seminars throughout Western Kenya, and most recently, taught at the nation's largest piano conservatory. Though I have strongly sharpened my skills and can adapt to almost any learning style, I continue to research and experiment and find different ways to adapt to my students. My love for music and my desire to see students succeed creates an infinite amount of patience and understanding within the context of our lessons. I can empathize with enjoyment for learning as well as frustration in failure. In addition, I like to incorporate my student's interests into their goals. For instance, for my guitar students, I like to set a realistic goal (a song they want to be able to play) and tailor my lessons towards my student being able to play that, while at the same time learning their fundamentals, or whatever else is in their lesson plan for that session.
