I started teaching in a local studio while I was going to college. I majored in jazz guitar and minored in classical piano. Had some education classes but a classroom was not for me. I enjoy the one on one experiance of private lessons. For beginning adult piano students, I use Alfred's Adult PIano Method. For the more advanced students, music is typically chosen from a variety of sources, so that the student is playing music that is challenging and enjoyable. With clarinet and saxophone students I spend a lot of time on reed selection and care. There are so many misconceptions about reed strength and how it relates to mouthpieces that I could talk about it all day (and usually do).
