Instruments: Piano Drums
Drums have always been the biggest passion in my life. This incredible instrument holdsendless musical and rhythmic possibilities which have always fascinated me.In 2011, I graduated with honors from the New Engalnd Conservatory with a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance. I've had the honor of playing at some of New York's most well known venues as well as international festivals such as the Red Sea Jazz Festival in Eilat. Read More

I am very patient and encouraging with my students because I know firsthand that playing the violin and piano is extremely difficult. Progress is not only dependent on the student doing their part, but it is also my responsibility to instruct in a way tailored towards each of my student's individual needs. Being able to set short term and long term goals is very helpful especially when learned at a young age. Read More

For beginning piano students, I enjoy the Faber Piano Adventures. As the student progresses, I guage what their interests/goals are, and choose repertoire according to their interests. For beginning oboe and woodwind students, I focus on a myriad of things that have nothing (and everything) to do with actual music: how to form a correct embouchure, correct hand and finger position, double and single reed care, instrument construction and maintenance, and finally, sound production. My teaching experience started before I entered college. While I was in high school, I taught private piano lessons to my mother's friend's children and other family members. In addition to teaching private lessons, I was a tenor section leader in my choir and competed in many choral competitions and music festivals. As I entered college, I began to teach more privately, gaining more experience as I went along. Throughout college, I was curious and adventurous; Read More

I tend to edit my teaching style based on how successfully my students meet their goals. I honestly love teaching young and beginning students because they're an absolute blank slate, something I do not take lightly. Having fun and establishing a strong practice routine is paramount with younger students. I emphasize listening to records/music with all students but especially with more intermediate to advanced students. If I have a student that wants to become a more competent jazz player I'll try to recommend some famous records with tunes that are commonly played. Read More

When I teach, I tend to forget the time. I always walk an extra mile, vocal lessons especially. I want my students to learn the basic techniques on how to use their vocal chords, where to place their voices, how to memorize, how to hold the mic, how to emcee, how to phrase, express, improvise which really needs time in learning. But after that, students will be more inspired, motivated, more eager to learn and challenge themselves to be better singers or performers. Read More

Upcoming world premiere piano solo concert at Carnegie Hall in September this year. Broadly speaking, my core principles and values align with that of your organization and its “belief in the intrinsic value of the arts and artists” and the transformative role of the arts and artists in the communities they serve. I am confident in my ability to successfully carry out the responsibilities and criteria outlined for this position, and am comfortable working with a variety of individuals and partner institutions across a wide range of constituencies.
