I always like to know what is the goal of each of my students. What style or genre they like as well as if they are aiming to be a solo performer or part of a band or ensemble. I like to start students on method books such as Hal Leonard's Essential Elements, this will teach students basic music theory as well as how to read on a staff. If also like contemporary music, I will teach them how to read chords letters, so to play styles such as jazz, pop, rock and contemporary gospel music. Read More

I started teaching 9 years ago. I really enjoy, and love seeing the progress with my students. Having fun is key. Learning to play an instrument or singing tends to quickly evolve as the students catches interest. Approaching the lessons from a natural and easy to understand method results into a second nature and a more excelling learning approach. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance.
