I've been teaching in the greater Los Angeles area for almost 20 years, teaching students from ages 4 - 92 (yes, really! 92!). The methods that I choose to use with my students depends on what they want to learn. Some students want to just play classical music, some pop, some jazz, some marching band, etc. Therefore I do not use the same teaching methods for all students. Having the right breathing patterns (since there are many varieties) is what can give you the edge and really bring out the best voice inside of you. Then I analyze the style and content of the songs they like, and find out their personality and psychological characteristics. Then find out the practice materials of scales, chords and arpeggios according to the musical ability of the students. as well as the repertoires of different periods of music that match the student's skills.I will also find out the students' hand shape and finger sensitivity during the pratice proocess, and use relevant to improve and solve them.
