When teaching classical piano, I use technique books like Hanon, Pischna for advanced beginners and intermediate. Material can range from Bach, Beethoven, Schumann etc. Contemporary methods usually from an approved song book or possibly a show tune. I received a Master’s degree in Music from the Boyer College of Music in Philadelphia, PA in 2015 for Vocal Performance. Before that, I graduated from the National Music Academy of Ukraine named after P.I. Tchaikovsky in Kiev in 2013, where I received a Bachelor in Music, took parts in a lot of operas ("Le nozze di Figaro", "Eugene Onegin", "Faust") and also earned a certificate of teaching. I think that students learn best when they are relaxed and having fun.  So, anything I can do to keep it light - whether it's drawing a picture to make a point or making up silly words to learn a complex rhythm or using crayons to mark the sections in our music - is a win in my book!  Laughing and making mistakes are a big part of learning.  When my students make errors, I don't scold, I say "good for you, now we can learn something!" My teaching experience dates back to my college days. I have been teaching for over one year. I had one year intern in Westminster Conservatory and taught 7 students with varied ages. Because the voice is the only instrument we cannot see with the naked eye, voice lessons must be extremely interactive. I believe in catering each lesson towards the goals of the individual student. I also believe in the collaboration of teacher and student. I am always asking students opinions or reactions on what we work on in the lesson. I want to empower my students at every level to become more aware of their instrument to the point that they can eventually become their own teacher to a certain extent. Read More
