I'm a passionate and dedicated instructor who loves cultivating and sharing my love for music with others. I am currently a student at Brigham Young University studying psychology. I am the founder and director of the Timp Musicians performing group, and I have a great love for composing, arranging, and performing original works for the piano, instrument ensembles, and choirs. I graduated from Weber State University (WSU) with a Bachelor's of Music in Keyboard Pedagogy. I have performed many times in solo and ensemble works in different settings during my education. I have high expectations in y studio, but I make it clear that students will progress at different speeds and that’s okay. Every week I give a set of warm-ups and exercises to focus on and expect students to practice so we can hone them when we’re together, but I’ll never ask a student to do something they’re not comfortable or familiar with - if ever there’s a question I’m there to answer or demonstrate. I play 3 different instruments. I originally started out on the flute. I played the flute during high shool and college. I studied under Karen , and Leslie Timmons. While I was at college, I became interested in Music Therapy. As part of the curriculum for Music Therapy, I also studied guitar and piano. I have been teaching since high school, and have taught students of all ages, ranging from age 5 to adults. I have had multiple opportunities to perform and accompany for various groups within my education at BYU, and have composed many pieces for piano, orchestra, and small groups. My students tend to progress very quickly and have a strong understanding of how to practice and what tools they can call on to reach their individual goals. Read More

I tend to be more laid back and relaxed. I want students to feel comfortable making mistakes, improvisation and creating their own sounds without fear of harsh criticism. I set up goals for each student based on their interests and what I feel is going to help them advance. This will include genres they may not like but I want to give them experience with a variety of different sounds and rhythms. Read More

I began teaching lessons at age 14 to young neighborhood beginners. As I progressed through the years, I expanded my range of student ability from beginner to upper intermediate, and from ages 6 to... well, older than me and I'm now 60! I have taught hundreds of students and enjoyed every one of them. I find that the more effort, especially in consistent and efficient practice (to be explained and demonstrated by me), that my students put in, the more pleasure and satisfaction they get out of it!
