My teaching style is simple: let the student decide what they want to pursue, and then push them in that direction! After all, that's how I was trained. My only goal is that the student is excited about what they are learning and playing. I will tailor every lesson plan to the student's personal interests, and make sure that goals are realistic such that the student feels that they are making progress. Read More

I taught at the community outreach program at Rutgers State University and have been a teacher with Musika for 10 years. I also play music with my own project Wave Magnetik where I produce music using Ableton and perform by DJing while playing trumpet and singing. Read More

When I teach, I tend to forget the time. I always walk an extra mile, vocal lessons especially. I want my students to learn the basic techniques on how to use their vocal chords, where to place their voices, how to memorize, how to hold the mic, how to emcee, how to phrase, express, improvise which really needs time in learning. But after that, students will be more inspired, motivated, more eager to learn and challenge themselves to be better singers or performers. Read More

I tailor to the desire/ ability level of each student accordingly. Depending on how hard a student is willing to work, I conduct the lessons in an appropriate matter. I learn what the student loves about music and try to work from there so that the experience is meaningful, advantageous, and fun. Sharing music with others is incredibly important to me as a person. Music can bring people a sense of accomplishment and joy for the rest of their lives, that can become a truly valuable part of themselves and their future. Read More

In 1979, I traveled to New York City, intending merely to spend the summer before finishing my last year at the University of Wisconsin. After a few short weeks of being there, though, I was getting so much work as a musician that I decided to stay. I've worked and toured with some of the great legends of jazz music such as Abbey Lincoln, Jackie McLean, Stanley Turrentine, and Freddie Hubbard. Read More
