Over the years, I have come to understand that each individual has a different path to follow. Teaching in one specific way could help one student, but that same way could hamper another. For that reason, I create my teaching material after meeting my students. Although I have a lesson plan that includes the fundamentals of music, I adjust the way I teach the material in response to my students needs, interests and temperaments. Read More

I develop a lesson plan before every lesson and set realistic goals for each of my students. I spend the first couple of lessons assessing what kind of learner a new student is, that way I can cater more closely to their learning style. Read More

I have taught music for most of my adult life. I have taught classes as well as group and private lessons for brass instruments, voice, beginning piano and guitar. I have been doing more private lessons now that I am retired and have taught a variety of students of different ages and levels. I like to find out what a student's personal and musical goals are early on and then focus the lessons on achieving those goals. Read More

I was studying Electrical Engineering for two years at Tufts University before I decided to take a leap and follow my passion of music. It has been an incredible journey ever since! I have had the oppurtunity to play a wide variety of musical styles including rock jam-band, folk trio, jazz ensembles, latin jazz, chamber music, solo, duo, avante-garde, electronic, and many more. No matter what the situation, I always love to play, create, and share music with others. Read More

I believe music should be fun and the process of studying it should be fun. But like everything else, it has challenges, and I think the fun part should be finding solutions to those challenges. I will give them fun exercises and I will give them questions to think about. I'm also quite patient if the student doesn't get something, and I will use different ways to explain it until they can fully understand. Read More

I usually start out by doing the methods book but I also stress the importance of playing with others in a group or duet setting. I love getting to play the teacher part with my students so it's more of a collaboration than a solo job. My goal is to have my students play duets with each other if that can be accommodated. Keeping it fun really helps the learning process and motivation to keep going and taking private lessons. Read More
