I'm a young teacher who loves working with students and instilling my passion of music in them. I have been involved in music since the age of 5, and received my Bachelors of Music Education degree from Western Carolina University in 2018. Through my experiences there, I was able to perform across the state of North Carolina, as well as tours in South Carolina, Florida, and take part in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in 2014. For beginning students on guitar i typically start wih Hal Leonards book 1. With about 50 pages in this book, we can go thru at a steady pace and be playing songs from the beginning. Makeing music from the very beginning is the key ! Even the simple one line practice exercizes i back up with a harmonic chordal accompaniment for a satisfying duet. The basic learning books I use to accomplish having the student play music from the very beginning. Read More

I started taking private Piano Lessons at 8 years old and I have over 12 years of professional experience teaching both Piano and Voice. I am skilled in both reading sheet music and playing by ear. I am also fluent in multiple genres of music ranging from Classical to Gospel, Pop to RB and so on. That gift has taken me through many doors and has given me access to a number of great enviorments across the country. Read More

At the first lesson is just seeing where they are and what kind of music they would want to play(hymnal songs, gospel songs, soundtracks, opera, classical etc). Then at the beginning of each lesson would be theory(note recognition, counting, fingering etc). Then review on what they practiced for the week and if they are confident with the pieces add a few more songs. At Christmas time and the end of spring I like to have to have a recital for the students to play a few of the songs they learned for their friends and family. Read More

There is nothing more rewarding for me than the "lightbulb" moments. To see a student light up with excitement over the satisfaction of knowing he or she has been able to achieve or conquer a concept or a piece of music is so awesome for me. I love helping students travel the process of going from point A to Z. I love the challenge of inspiring students through the difficult times when it would be easier to just give up and quit. The methods I choose fora studentwill be individualized based on wherethat student is and wherethe studentwould like to go. I will select different methods for different kinds of learners. However, we will certainlybegin by looking atthe student'sinstrument and learning environment and evaluate the technique and knowledge of the student. We will also begin by discussing long term goals and setting clear short term goals in ear-training, sight-reading, performance as well as theory and composition. The keyboard is a great place to learnmusical fundamentals, especially for beginners because it is so easy to visualizeintervals and patterns. I began teaching private voice students while I was still working on my Masters degree. I was the Concert Choir section leader in College and found leadership and spreading my love for music to be exhilarating! I encourage all of my students to set a reasonable practice schedule to get themselves into the habit of practicing and really reaching their full potential as a student. I accept recreational students as well as students who are looking towards a career in music in the future. Read More
