I love to have fun in my lessons. No single student understands the same thing the same way so I take the time to listen/understand them as a person and as a musician. While it would be wonderful if all of my students became virtuosi musicians, I understand that sometimes math class may be at the forefront of their attention. That said, practice is still required. Like a doctor, I prescribe solutions to students to help them achieve their goals and will do everything I can to help them to succeed but if they dont take the remedy, success is can be quite slow. I am a classically-trained singer and piano player  with over 10 years of private teaching experience.  I have performed in several recitals including the Early Boston Music Festival.  In addition, I have performed with sveral different choirs throughout the years. Though my specialty is classical and opera, I can aso teach Broadway, pop, and jazz styles as well.  I welcome all student levels from beginner to advance and my teaching philosophy is to tailor the lessons for every student in order to help them acheive their full potential.  Read More

For small children, I used kid-friendly method books provided by the music school I was working with at the time to keep them engaged and entertained. For older children and adults, I simply ask about their prior musical knowledge and the music that they enjoy so we could use that as inspiration. For beginning students, I recommend the Standard of Excellence or Essential Elements which are both great options for the basics of their instruments and both include fingering charts and fingerings for each new note they learn. I have been teaching privately for about 10 years now. I teach at different studios in the NY and NJ area. I love teaching all ages and all levels. I teach many styles of music and like to combine different styles with each student to give them a wide range of knowlege. I love being able to give my students the tools to be a sucsessful and confident musician, while having fun at the same time! Read More

Hi There! I am a 2007 graduate of New School University's Jazz and Contemporary Music program with a BFA in Jazz Vocal Performance. I am also a professionally-trained pianist. I am trained in both classical and jazz vocal techniques and would also be happy to instruct students in general performance/presentation skills. Additionally, I have lots of experience with in-studio recording and would also be able to prepare students for demo recording or other studio projects. Read More

I am happiest when I see my students learn to love their lessons and to enjoy practicing. I make sure that they have numerous opportunities to perform for others. Even with very young children, we begin to write notes, and learn time signatures and key signatures. In one lesson, my young students are able to "read" notes and to play pieces. I have the ability to assess their individual personalities immediately. Read More

For beginning students who are children, I typically start with simple chords and teach them a few fun songs. If the student is interested in learning how to read music, I will use Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance if they are interested in performing live. For adults, I like to find out what they are most interested in, whether it is a specific genre, (jazz/classical) or if they are more interested in learning songs (classic rock/pop/etc.) or songwriting. Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
