One of my favorite things to do is share my passion for music with others. I've found music to be the greatest inspiration in my life, and I love being able to introduce it to my students. I've been taking piano lessons ever since I can remember, becoming more and more serious as the years passed. In 2009, I joined a choir and a band through American Music Abroad, which took me on a 3 week tour of Europe. Read More

I start with pushing students to develop good habits early on in their playing. I like to get my students playing songs in their genre of choice as soon as possible. This method generates interest in their instrument from the very begining. I select their repetoire based on what techniques we are currently working on and find songs that will force them to develop those techniques in order for them to effectively perform each piece. My teaching style is receptive and warm, but focused. I use goal-setting as a satisfying and organized way to break down musical lessons, which means lessons time is well spent and students have a good understanding of how and what to practice. Students remain engaged and satisfied with this approach, which provides proof of the progress that is taking place in lessons and in private practice time. Since music learning is highly cumulative, it's important to me that students have a thorough understanding of principles before moving on to new ones. Read More

My methods differ for each instrument. For piano I will start with Alfred's basic piano course if the student is a beginner. It helps students visualize the basic techniques for sitting and playing the piano in a way that will prevent injury. From there we walk through the book until the student understands how the keys and reading music works. After this, I start to assign different songs and/or assignments that match the student's learning style and interest in music. Read More

I'm a very passionate and hard working teacher, with a goal to keep the legacy of music passed on. I believe in building relationships with all of my students, as I have learned people only want to learn from people they like. I graduated from West Georgia University with a BA in Guitar performance, and a minor focus on piano and saxophone. I have experience playing classical, jazz, and rock all over the country as well as in Germany for a jazz tour in college. Read More

My lesson style is one-on-one. I like to create an environment where the student can be relaxed, yet focused, in order to get the most out of our lesson time. I like to start with review of the last lesson and any homework assigned for the student to work on. If there are areas where work is still required, we will spend as much time as needed to get those issues resolved before we move on. Read More
