There are two selected teaching methods that I confer with in order to select the most appropriate method for my students. For my beginning students, I select Schaum (Books 1-3) for piano lessons, and Benners Book One for theory lessons. The Schaum methods offers bright and color-coded books, which reflects that various learning levels. Once the students have attained the basic keyboard and theory fundamentals, the students will be given an assessment of their mastery, they will advance to the immediate level. Read More

For beginners, on piano I def reccomend Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Also, "My Favorite Solo Album," by Max Eckstein. Once progression and consistency has been developed I always encourage my students to share what they have learned in to a recital performance. I always make sure to teach what the student is interested in no matter what their ability is because with practice and a good student mentality my tudents achieve their goals quicker than usual. I focus on vocal technique from lesson 1. I listen to the radio plenty, but if there's a popular song on the radio at the moment, it's more than likely being sung in an unhealthy way. Shawn Mendes, Sia, Demi Lovato, Charlie Puth, and Mariah Carey are incredible talents...however they sing in an incredibly unhealthy manner. However, there are pop artists such as Adele, Adam Levine, Ariana Grande, and Meghan Trainor who clearly have vocal chops along with healthy techniques. Read More

Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music. It is so important that each individual student progresses at his or her own ace. I encourage this progress by setting realistic and clear goals for my students at each lesson. When I acknowledge their accomplishments, it helps to fuel the desire to learn of the student and makes them eager to learn more. Once I find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction towards the wants and needs of my students. Read More

It's important that students use healthy, smart habits from the beginning to avoid issues that can slow down development. The most important part of learning music is keeping it fresh and enjoying the process. Read More
