I've actually written and produced my own music theory book that was in all Borders stores before they closed down. I've learned a few methods and I try to incorporate them all unless the student or parents wants something specific. My method is a method where I can teach 1 thing countless ways. I love my students to learn theory because it is a very important backbone to music. Some people can play instruments without ever really kwoing what they are playing or understand the theory behind it, and I think it holds them back from truely being creative and understanding of music. With my methods students will be able to play from any genre, any book, and hopefully will be able to create their own music. Read More

I am a vibrant forward thinking music teacher with a lot to offer a young musician. For the past twenty years music has been the center of my life. My experiences include local and international performances. In my experiences I have also had the chance to perform at famous concert halls such as Symphony Space, Avery Fischer Hall and Carnegie Hall. Currently I am a full time music instructor in public school and do my best to pass on my passion of music to my students! Read More

I have been teaching music since I attended high school and have continued to do so for the past 6 years. Improvisation and expression are key points I like to emphasize in all my students, as anyone can sit down and practice scales until their fingers fall off, but being able to express yourself through a musical instrument takes dedicated work and direction. My students are made to create as much as they are made to perform, as understanding how music works and the theory behind it is achievable regardless of level or age. Read More

It is great to see the joy on students faces when they realize how good their progress is. I always knowledge their success in overcoming of obstacles they find on their way. It is also a joyful challenge for both, student and me, to find the way through greater difficulties when they arise. Then the success is even sweeter. Read More
Instruments: Piano Voice
I began my teaching career as a teenager with beginning piano students in my home. I continued to teach part-time throughout university, adding voice to the mix, and have taught full time off and on since then between singing engagements, mothering my children and working. I have taught at the Elementary/Middle School level in a private after-school program in NYC, at Westminster Choir College in NJ for a year and began teaching on Long Island in recent years since my move to Centereach, NY. I started teaching when I was in college just a few private lessons here and there, which eventually landed my first job at a private school teaching clarinet. I have had students from 5th-9th grade primary at this studio with skill levels ranging from complete beginner to pre-college advanced. I have also taught many other instruments in smaller studios and can teach advanced students in any woodwind, and beginners on any other instrument in my profile. Read More

It is important to me that I pay attention to a student during a lesson to see what confuses them, what excites them and what frustrates them. I go at their pace. When a student shows a lot of interest and is practicing regularly I will try and challenge them as much as I think they can handle. Children and adult students need to know they are making progress. And I am a great encourager. Read More
