I’m an enthusiastic and talented instructor that loves teachings and inspiring others to share my love for music. I am a recent graduate from Bethune-Cookman University where I studied with Russian-born pianist Rose Grace. Music is a universal language that has taken me places I never imagined I would go and allowed me to meet very powerful and influential people. I am the 2017-18 White House HBCU All-Star which is a recognition for outstanding leadership, community service and academic achievement from the White House Initiative. Read More

Faber and Faber: The books by Nancy and Randall Faber are a popular and heavily promoted piano "method" with many adherents. The Faber and Faber beginning books can serve a teacher well who needs a pre-programmed series of books to follow as a starter for their teaching. Each page of the books embodies delightful graphics and is cross-referenced to other books in the series along the outer edge of each page. Read More

For students that are just starting, I love using Bastien Piano Basic books and Alfred's Basic Piano library! These both have great selections and have all different levels to meet the student's needs. After the student moves out of these basic piano books, we can start working on learning songs and developing some solo pieces for their repertoire. For adults that are learning piano, I leave a lot up to the student because most of the time they already have something in mind that they would like to learn or work their way up to learning a particular piece. i teach each student individually that is to say that i tailor the lessons to meet the level and desires of the student . i include teaching theory as i go along with each student. i tell each student that there is no such thing as a mistaked, there is only learning. i usually teach two songs in the first hour lesson . one in four four time and one in three four time . i also teach how to transpose any song that the student wishes to learn into the key that the student is able to sing the song in. again . nothing is hard . it is only new. I've found the best way to teach is to cater to each student's interest. While early or beginning players may require some fundamental grunt work, there is always a way to assure that it's fun too. Earlier students would need to start learning the basics: rhythm, learning to read, developing technique through scales etc. of which there are many methods. As students mature, I feel the Suzuki method for aspiring classical students is the best route (there are multiple books in this series) along with some other extensive and more challenging works. I've been singing since I was a child. I've played in school orchestra and church praise band even before college. I've performed for the president and sung in Moscow's Red Square. My studies have focused on liturgical church music though my pentecostal church background has helped combine spirit with tradition. I currently teach music to grades K-5 in a public charter school in Duval County, Florida. Read More
