My Intermediate Piano explores a higher level of technique, including improvisation and reading more complex music. YEARS 1-2: BEGINNER LEVEL Foundation-building happens here. Each student learns approximately 30-40 pieces throughout the year, and participates in 2-3 recitals and possibly an adjudicated event. Students finish 1 theory/activity book per year on average. Practice expectation is 10-20 minutes per day, 5-6 days per week. Student music requests are encouraged. YEARS 3-4: LATE BEGINNER LEVEL Continued foundation-building and more creativity start to happen in these two years. I started teaching piano to both children and adults in high school. One of them was 5 years old, the other was 6, and another was 13 years old. I've also taught a 19-year-old for a short period of time. For the two kids who were 5 and 6, they were total beginners at piano and did not know anything about piano so my main focus was to introduce them to this instrument and teach them the basics of music theories, scores, and postures.
