I have been teaching for over 5 years. I began as a private lesson coach and have been consistenatly growing with students for around 7 years. As well as song and technical technique, my students and I also focus in on composition, songwriting, improvosition, discovery of sound and direction, and artistry. I combine both clossical and modern technique's and combine them into a personalized lesson and practice plan for the student. I like my students to bring a small notebook, so that they may write their homework down, and any practice assignments.  I expect my students to keep a practice log of how much time they practice per week, in between lessons.  I always insist that setting goals and expectations for them, is very important, as well as keeping track of whether they themselves are staying on task.  I try and incorporate different ways of practicing or playing music, so that even practicing turns into being fun and exciting and doesn't feel like a chore.  Read More

Some weeks a piano student might complete the material rapidly and some weeks, they may want to go slower, taking their time, therefore they excel at their own comfort level and don't feel as though there is a race.
