Instruments: Piano Trumpet
I have been teaching since childhood. I am available as a tutor in trumpet, beginning piano, music theory, and general music. Musical studies began early started for me on piano at age 6. At age 10, I started trumpet in the school band and after interested in the more traditional classical and church music. My teaching experience dates back to my college days, I have been consistently teaching students for 20 years. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument and enjoy the music and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. I like giving my students the right tools, lesson by lesson, enabling them to proceed through the learning process.I usually start observing what the student come up with, wether on drums or piano and then I use their natural talent or inspiration to connect to my teaching path .This way I'm able to really engage with them, keeping them on that inspiration that brought them to me.I always try to adapt my style to the student inclinations since some of them are more for instinctive learning others more for academic learning. Instruments: Piano Synthesizer Keyboard
For all students no matter if they are children or adults or if they are beginner students or advanced students I would tell all my students to get a large manuscript book and a metronome. Also they should get different musical instructional books. I will teach all my students how to read and write music. Very important. I will teach all my students all different styles of music and the many different ways or many different techniques in how to play music with their individual musical instrument that the student will take up. Instruments: Piano Voice
For beginning piano students, I typically start with the Hal Leonard "My First Piano Adventure for the Young Beginner," series. As students progress in their piano studies, I begin introducing solo repertoire that will support the concepts being learned in the book series. I will also assign small writing projects from time to time, to sharpen students' compositional and music reading skills. For voice students, my approach will vary, depending on individual experience and skills. Read More
Instruments: Piano Drums
My teaching style focuses on learning and playing in a musical fashion. Whether the student is playing and exercise or a composition it always should sound musical. I want my students to internalize what they are playing so that it can become a part of them. They should become one with the music. I set realistic goals which will change along with the progression of the student. I believe in giving them positive feedback along with constructive critiques. Read More
Instruments: Piano Guitar Voice
Like I said, every lesson is specific to the student. I don't use a "method" on all my students. I can teach classical music and technicality, to jazz songs and improvisation, to songwriting and pop/folk oriented style of playing. I try to give accurate and appropriate material to students depending on their needs and interests. Read More
Instruments: Piano Voice Organ Synthesizer
I typically use the Alfred books for young beginning students. In these books, children learn the geography of the keyboard and learn about the contours of musical notation and by the end are using both hands. For adults, as well as intermediate children and up, I prefer the Michael Aaron series for intermediate and beyond. For beginning adults I use the Aaron Musical Primer. I also use the Aaron Technic for advanced performers. Read More
