For beginning and intermediate students on piano, I generally teach out of Piano Adventures as a supplement, but teach other songs the student requests. For voice lessons, I tailor my supplemental book teaching to the students individual learning abilities, as well as learning songs they are passionate about. For beginners children, I like to start with a primer book. Either through the suzuki method or piano adventures. Also, there are instances where I find simple pieces from different composers, put them together into a booklet and start teaching through those while having the student write music theory in a music notebook. For beginner adults, I think its best to start with things they're interested in playing. I know that adults gravitate towards music because they would like to play some of their favorite songs and through that I teach them music, both theory and practice.  Read More

Students will learn to read music along with how to play with expression/dynamics, good voicing and articulation, use of pedal and so on. They can also work on solo pieces that would be appropriate for recital performances. For bass guitar, I would take a slightly different approachit's less focused on learning songs from a book and more about learning the layout of the instrument (parts of the bass, how to tune, etc.) and good technique with some basic music theory.
