Personal success and happiness from playing music are the most important things for a student to achieve when taking lessons from me. I will work students hard in lessons, but treat them fairly and expect only what I know they are capable of achieving. I may differ slightly from other teachers in that when it comes to outside practice requirements, as I will teach to he amount of effort the student shows me. Read More

I believe teaching is a privilege, and I strive to inspire each student and light the fire that is in all of us for expression. I am a master teacher, and will find specific motivational techniques to coarse greatness from each student. I will make sure each student is constantly moving forward and find a comfortable yet challenging pace for the student to ensure success. I am a large proponent of fundamentals, and will always encourage students to refine these techniques first. This will include scales, tone production, voicing and overtones, and more! Alongside this will be a combination of student choice pieces and etudes from various books. I like to start with the Melodious and Progressive Studies by David Hite, then progress to Ferling's 48 etudes for more advanced students. Finally, we will also begin adding student choice pieces, as well as some pieces(or transcriptions) from the standard saxophone repertoire! Read More

My first true teaching experience happened around the age of sixteen, which was by tutoring my siblings friends and preparing them for NYSSMA. I found this to be a truly enjoyable experience and realized that this was a passion that I wished to pursue in the future. From there, I enrolled in several music education courses when I attended Berklee College of Music. After learning from a variety of different music educators from various different backgrounds, I felt that I found my calling and knew that I was pursuing a career that I was passionate about. My advanced students I like to introduce solo repitoire as well as more advance studies on their respective instruments, as well as more comprehensive scale and tone exercises. I love to focus on technique and musicality, and with that musical reading ability falls right into place. Read More

My teaching style is grounded in my own absolute love for music! This passion translates through in my teaching, which hopefully results in successful student learning. I also believe that the teacher needs to develop a rapport with the student, in order for successful learning. Furthermore, as previously stated, I've studied pedagogy at the undergraduate level. I realize what it takes to be a successful teacher, and believe in the importance of exposing young people, as well as folks of all ages, to music and the arts. Read More
