For beginning piano students, I enjoy the Faber Piano Adventures. As the student progresses, I guage what their interests/goals are, and choose repertoire according to their interests. For beginning oboe and woodwind students, I focus on a myriad of things that have nothing (and everything) to do with actual music: how to form a correct embouchure, correct hand and finger position, double and single reed care, instrument construction and maintenance, and finally, sound production. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. Read More

This, too, varies based on the individual student. I pride myself on my flexibility, and always try to run my lessons based on what best fits the student's personality and learning style. I always, however, provide a thorough and comprehensive music educationI want my students to understand the music they're learning, not just learn how to play their instrument. And most importantly, I strive to maintain a patient, encouraging learning environment. Read More

I'm all about bringing positive vibes into what I teach! I love music and I bring that love into everything I teach. My goal is to always make sure the student feels comfortable, feels heard, and feels prepared for anything I may throw at them. Music is a living experience and I believe as a teacher you need to bring that energy every time you teach. I make sure every student feels accomplished from everything I ask of them, I'm considerate in my instruction, and I make sure every assignment I give is feasible for the student's level. Read More

My lessons are student driven and customized to each student. I take a student's musical background and goals into consideration when coming up with the lesson plan for each lesson. I aspire to find a balance between challenging my students without frustrating or overwhelming them and giving them reasonably reached goals with them getting bored. I make sure to acknowledge their success and offer positive feedback when they do well. Read More

My teaching experience began when I was in college. I began teaching flute, clarinet, and saxophone lessons out of a music store in Upstate New York in 2016. This time was largely spent with complete beginners on their instruments, and it was incredibly rewarding. I focused on a balance of fundamentals like scales and long tones, formal repertoire such as classical and jazz pieces, and time for whatever the student was interested in whether that be pop, hip hop, or rock music.
