I like to figure out what inspires my students and use that to cater their lesson to them. If one of my students really like movie theme music we will learn those songs. Nothing is more awarding than seeing my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson, and encourage them by praising their achievements. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a student's desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more.
