I am a huge fan of the Arban's technique book for brass, but I like to keep lessons fun with songs that challenge my students at their level. Once the student has progressed to the intermediate level - solid fundamentals, musicianship, and a desire for learning - I introduce solo repertoire. Encouraging a love of the instrument (and music in general) in younger students is something I'm very passionate about, but I'm always willing to help older students find that love as well. I am not a fan of "rote learning" so my lessons tend to include a large amount of cognitive thinking by me constantly asking questions and making you pay attention to your own playing habits.
