Petersburg. In 2015, I embarked on a new chapter in the United States, earning my Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance in 2023. Currently, I'm advancing my musical expertise in the Master's program at MSM. Within the school's supportive community, I've emerged as a valued soloist, contributing to works such as Bach's "Magnificat," Mozart's "Missa Brevis in F - Benedictus," and the chorus of Verdi's "La Traviata." My mission is to help each student create a healthy sound rooted in the body, which, coupled with a solid breathing technique, creates an easy, effortless and dynamic tone. From the very first lesson, I teach a fudamental warm-up that addresses the physical, breathing and vocal, and which the student can use for the rest of their singing career. Once that's in place, I spend the remaining time tailoring the lesson itself to the individual student's needs; this may be focusing on breathing one day, while focusing on resonating the next. My method of working with the voice is to first get a sense of what the student's goals are. These include both vocal goals and career/performance goals. We will then work together to form a plan to achieve them. This will include exercises tailored directly to the student's vocal needs and desires and guiding the student to repertoire that will both be fun for them to sing and will teach them more about the concepts we are working on. Every student is different, especially when it comes to vocal training, so I tailor my lesson plans according to each individual student's ability and needs. I begin with the basics of breath control and work to help each student find their natural voice. I use different vocal exercises to help improve tone and range and then incorporate what we've learned from those exercises into singing songs. My teaching style is strongly based on the constructivist method of learning. What that means is I prefer to help students by means of demonstrating skills( Left/ right-hand technique, excerpts from music, etc.), to scaffold their learning, and to help them overcome challenges by means of critical thinking and problem-solving.
