I then ask them to perform anything of their choice to assess their ability level (if applicable). Depending on the individual student's technical ability and style of music they wish to learn, I write practice exercises specifically catered to them. What kind of music would they like to learn? Are they taking lessons for pleasure? If they are beginners or at an intermediate level; are they taking lessons to become professional singers?
