For children, it is important to know the fundamental (produce sound, pitch, breathing, etc) and it has to be FUN! I start off with the book Singing Lessons for Little Singers and when start introducing songs as the student progress. For adults, it's best to know what each students want and need and I'll walk them according to their needs. Techniques and repertoire comes hand in hand and I like to have a balance of both.I want to create an environment where the students will be learning what they want to learn balanced out with what they need to learn. I am a graduate of Long Island University: Post Campus with Bachelors of Music in Music Education with emphasis in Trombone Studies. I have maintained a small private low brass studio for the past three years and teaches students ages -12 on various instruments in multiple music schools across the island. My teaching style is very thorough and patient. I welcome mistakes! Please make mistakes! It is not about how often you fall down, but about how you get up again. If you want to work hard, I will work hard as well. My students know the importance of regular practice in order to build dependable muscle memory in their singing. There are many methods in voice, but my favorite teaching method is Vaccai. Its a simple and thorough method that explores intervalic reading and understanding theory, as well as classical breath training. I also teach vocal improvisation with jazz standards and allow my students to research about other styles and genres that they are curious about. The most important thing is they keep a good vocal health practice that allows them to be versatile and creative. Singing is such a personal and meditative instrument that the more time you spend understanding your voice the more you will be able to achieve. For beginning students, I prefer to use the Alfred's Basic Piano Course books. Once the student gets down the fundamentals and becomes more technically proficient, I introduce solo repertoire and get them started with some fun and musical etudes to improve finger dexterity. I also like to make the lessons fun and entertaining for the kids by playing some music games or giving rewards. For adult students, I try to find appropriate beginner piano books. Read More
