My teaching experience dates back to my days as a graduate vocal performance student at California Institute of the Arts, where I taught undergraduate and graduate instrumentalists how to use their voices. I also taught voice to actors while I was singing in an opera house in Germany. Since then, I've worked with all ages of students in private lessons and groups. I first started learning the guitar in high school. I found I had an affinity for the instrument so I continued to study classical guitar and piano in college. I first started giving lessons my junior year in college and have continued to teach ever since. I am also currently the music director for the Yorba Linda United Methodist Church in Yorba Linda California. I approach teaching by focusing on the student. I find out what they need and want first. We set realistic goals together and I give them the tools to help them reach their goals. I don't want my students to be entirely dependent on me. I like to give them exercises to do on their own in between lessons so that time doesn't go to waste and they can see quicker improvement with their own practicing. Read More
