I talk with my students (and their parents, if applicable) about their previous musical experience and their expectations and goals in taking lessons.Everyone learns differently and at a different pace, and everyone has unique strengths. I use my students' natural strengths to help them understand the aspects of music that come less naturally to them. For voice I create my own custon lesson plans and use a variety of materials. Students will work on a great variety of repetorie from pop to renaissance. Students are encourgaed to learn to read music, with a great emphasis placed upon practical music theory. I aim to develop intellegent musical artists, foscuing upon intrepretation, critical thinking, historical considerations and creativity. And my love of singing and teaching led me to pursuing a music education degree that I am about to go into my senior year of at Miami University. During my time at Miami so far I have had hours of field experience getting to teach elementary, middle, and high school music classes. This involved creating and teaching my own lesson plans. This past year I took a vocal pedagogy course and part of this course was taking on college aged voice students to teach and prepare them for a recital and both of my students were successful.
