I was born with an "educator" mindset, and began teaching early on in my personal music studies. I began teaching about 10 years ago, in 2010, after getting into my undergraduate studies for music performance. I have taught all levels and in many different settings: To-date I have taught ages 6 through 65. I have taught in formal school system classrooms, private music studios, community centers and at a student's home. I began taking piano lessons when I was about four years old and voice lessons when I was seven. I was involved in Certificate of Merit for voice and for piano. I studied music at UC Santa Cruz and graduated in 2012. I was exposed to many contemporary pieces and had a wonderful experience in a small but strong department. He was Music Program Director at Mission Hills Middle School, in Union City, for 3 years. He was also the guitar and percussion teacher at St. Paul’s Episcopal School in Oakland. Jake has also been a music instructor with COVA, Art and Soul Music Studios, Hayward Music Center and ALMA.
