My passion for singing dates back to when I was a child, singing in choirs and performing in churches. In 2011, I graduated from the Greatbach School of Music at Houghton College, earning a bachelor's degree in Vocal Performance with honors. I have been blessed to perform in several regional theatre productions, as well as two off-Broadway shows. I have brought my love of coaching and teaching to these productions. I was the vocal captain at La Comedia Dinner Theatre in Ohio, and the music director for an off-Broadway production. Read More

it is an honor, always, to teach music, to be a medium for what truly is a magical force -- the universal language. I believe that music would be nothing with out the individual touch -- so every student of mine must progress at their very own pace, in their very own way, thus to truly become a musician - and not a carbon copy of what we think music might be. I'm a Creative, Passionate, Music Loving person and Instructor. I share my experience of decades of private music instruction. I studied with the great master Lennie Tristano who presented me in Solo concert performance. I played Town Hall NYC and recorded a tribute album there to rave reviews in the New York Times. I have played concerts throughout the tri-state area as well as in Europe. I love to tailor each lesson as a custom fit for each individual students needs! Read More

For small children, I used kid-friendly method books provided by the music school I was working with at the time to keep them engaged and entertained. For older children and adults, I simply ask about their prior musical knowledge and the music that they enjoy so we could use that as inspiration. For beginning students, I recommend the Standard of Excellence or Essential Elements which are both great options for the basics of their instruments and both include fingering charts and fingerings for each new note they learn. Between undergraduate and graduate schooling I honed my teaching craft. I taught lessons to a wide variety of ages and ability levels. I also taught public school for a non-profit organization called Education Through Music in the Bronx. At the graduate level, I play with the New Music Ensemble, Robert Dick Large Flute Ensemble, various chamber groups, and orchestra. I also continue to perform in New York City with the Brooklyn Wind Symphony Read More

My favorite piano method book for children is the Bastien Piano Basics Series. Alternately, I sometimes use the Faber & Faber Piano Adventures. For very young children (3-6) "My First Piano Adventure," a Faber publication, is my book of choice. For adults, I usually use Alfred's Basic Adult Piano Course, though sometimes I skip method books and play pieces picked by the student. When teaching drums/percussion, my method books of choice are Standard of Excellence and Winning Rhythms. Read More

Teaching Experience: 20yrs+. I have experiences teaching students private, small group, and large group ensembles with diverse colors and ages of people. I have students with different ages from youngest ages 5 years to seniors 85+. When I meet students for the first time, I try to learn their musical background and listen to their ability so I can find their best way to improve their abilities. For younger ages, I try to be more fun and define how they concentrate, so I can choose the right materials to teach them and guide their way to accomplish their goals. Read More
