My teaching experience dates back to my undergraduate experience, where I vocal and music directed 6 student theater productions. This includes providing one-on-one vocal instruction for leads and ensemble members and teaching full vocal scores to ensembles of over 20. I was also the music director of my A Cappella group, so I have experience auditioning, training, and rehearsing a cappella singers. I am also a trained pianist and accompanist, so I provide tracks for students virtually and live accompaniment for in-person lessons and use these skills to provide piano lessons. Read More

I love the John Thompson series for young children beginning their study of music. For 3 and 4 year olds, I start out with John Thompson's Easiest Piano Book. We also work on keyboard orientation, understanding and mastery of the musical alphabet, note values, and rhythm. I've found for very young children, drawing notes with crayons, clapping, singing, keep lessons fun and engaging. Secondly, I give them individual exercises and short music excerpts that they enjoy and we can learn together. It is important to slowly introduce music that is a little more challenging and that will keep them engaged and knowing of their improvements.
