Instruments: Guitar Voice

Being a new teacher I can't speak to really any past experience. All I can say is that music has to be fun period. You're not going to practice if you don't enjoy what you're doing! Read More

My lessons for vocalists are divided into two sections: technique and repertoire. For singers, breath management skills are of primary importance as this directly affects intonation. I like to begin with Anne Peckham's The Contemporary Singer. My students can choose any songs they would like to sing while we work on musicianship skills including expression and lyrical phrasing. Singers who want to study jazz and improvisation use one or more of my pedagogical texts on scat singing. Read More

Instruments: Piano Voice Flute Piccolo

For my voice students I prefer to work within genres that the student likes; I did not like being forced to sing certain songs when I was studying voice, so I would not want to do that to anyone else! My flute students I like to work with the Rubank method books - from beginner to advanced; they offer the most comprehensive approach to playing the flute. For piano students, I prefer to use the Piano Adventure Series by Faber. Read More

Instruments: Voice

The most important part of singing is making sure no harm is ever being done - so healthy technique is the key, then, we start to focus on depth of sound, etc. I try to help my students find a way to make singing as natural and simple as possible, without overthinking and becoming obsessive about rhythms or pitches. Of course everything should be accurate, but the more the vowels are forward (like in speech), the jaw and tongue can move freely and independently (just like when we yell), and the breath is constant, then everything will be in tune. Instruments: Piano Voice Synthesizer Keyboard

I want my student to create their musical identities, and help them shape their personalities in their journey. Most of all, I want them to enjoy doing it, while also working hard and developing skills that go beyond our lessons! My goal as an educator is to share everything I know that can help my students so that they can go out into the world and play with confidence, and to feel good about the music that they make! Instruments: Piano Voice Music Keyboard

My teaching style is nurturing and supportive. Music is an emotional art, regardless of the instrument you are performing. I like to encourage my students to think about the music they are playing and to think about the music they hear every single day out in the world. I like my students to be musically adventurous and open to new ideas and new styles. I love when my students ask questions and begin to understand the why and how of the way music, and their instrument, works. Read More

Instruments: Voice Music

Berklee has always been a dream of mine. I studied Music Therapy at Berklee College of Music in 2015. I worked with children and adults with developmental disabilities and mental health. I had been an ardent member of the Berklee Indian Ensemble. I worked with various artists such as Vijay Prakash, Raghu Dixit, Indian Ocean and Shreya Ghoshal. I also went on a tour with them once. I have been a member of "The Lotus Sound", a circle singing group. Read More
