For piano students ages 5-9, I generally use the Faber and Faber Piano Adventures series. For piano ages 10-12 I use the Older Beginner series. My teen and adult students normally work out of and Adult All in One series. For more advanced piano students Ill work repertoire, theory and scales/technique as needed/desired by the student. The greatest feeling is seeing my students build a stronger passion and appreciation for the art form! It's crucial for me that students are reminded that progression is made at his or her own pace. A common thing I notice from students is that some feel that others around them may seem to be ahead of them. I have been singing since long before I could carry a tune (ask my poor family!). As I discovered my passion for it I continued to study it in college and graduated with a dual degree in Elementary Education and Music from Rider University. My experience began with an internship at the Diller-Quaile School of Music in NYC. I assisted in teaching students from underprivileged school districts by taking them to their classes, encouraging them to play/sing along, and perform for them as well. I earned a certificate in continuing teaching and leadership education from this internship. Later on, I started teaching private lessons at a local music school the last 2 years.
