I've been singing since I was a child. I've played in school orchestra and church praise band even before college. I've performed for the president and sung in Moscow's Red Square. My studies have focused on liturgical church music though my pentecostal church background has helped combine spirit with tradition. I currently teach music to grades K-5 in a public charter school in Duval County, Florida. Read More

i teach each student individually that is to say that i tailor the lessons to meet the level and desires of the student . i include teaching theory as i go along with each student. i tell each student that there is no such thing as a mistaked, there is only learning. i usually teach two songs in the first hour lesson . one in four four time and one in three four time . i also teach how to transpose any song that the student wishes to learn into the key that the student is able to sing the song in. again . nothing is hard . it is only new. Each student is different, and therefore requires their own personal curriculum. The first questions from teacher to students should always be, "What is it that makes you want to play", "What kind of music interests you the most", and "What do you hope to accomplish musically". Some people only want to learn a little, others want to go all the way. By asking these questions, one can understand what drives the student to play, and establish a personalized fun and effective curriculum. Read More

For my beginner students, who are younger, I start off with the Faber series in the Primer levels. After progressing through the first few levels of the series, I then start to introduce solo repertoire depending on the interests of the student. For my older students, we also go through the Faber Adult Piano Adventures book, where we learn the basics of piano along with some fun pieces. I teach more information outside of the book which is not taught until later to get ahead. Read More

For beginning students who are children I use varying method books such as Faber, Bastian, Leonard etc. These method books do a wonderful job of progressing the student naturally and gradually which is my style of teaching. Once the student shows understanding and mastery of the basic fundamentals taught in these books, the level of advancement grows and solo pieces will be chosen that best help the Student progress musically and technically.
