I like to find out what my student's goals are, and then I tailor the lessons to their needs. If my student is in high school and wants to apply to University for voice performance, I will make sure they start with the 26 Italian Arias, and we will also work on languages, since certain Universities require their singers to sing in French, Italian, German, English, and Spanish. If I have a student who wants to sing in musicals, we will work on show tunes and classic music theater music, but also classical music, as that is the foundation to all singing. Read More

For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. I have also studied piano, strings, voice for over 2 decades. I have learned under many great music instructors, various members of the Florida Orchestra and also a direct student of Dr. Suzuki himself. I have taught privately since 2006, though occasionally I will take two students from the same household, church or neighborhood and pair them up in what is known as a "partner lesson". Each person takes turns at the piano playing their respective scales, repertoire etc. and we offer one another encouragement as well as constructive criticism for those technical issues in need of improvement.
