I was an educator in the Seneca Falls Central Schools for 38 years where I first became an instrumental music teacher. I taught woodwind lessons grades 5-12 and conducted elementary and middle school bands. Once they have progressed and picked up the fundamentals from these lessons I like to move on to Hal Leonard's Giant Book of Children's Vocal Solos. We gradually increase the tempo over the next several weeks. Pieces like that will be rehearsed at the end of each lesson after working through a few passages in Alfreds book. At the beginning, I ask my adults what music theyre interested in learning.
