I have been teaching students off and on since 2007. Regular practice has always been encouraged to my students, but I encourage even more to find the love in learning and playing music. Regardless of age or skill level, my students are all equal to me. As a beginner, learning a new intstrument can be tedious, but that is the pathway of finding the love in the instrument. Typically, I begin with regimented learning. For guitar students, I use Hal Leonards Guitar Method 1. For voice students, I teach basic breathing exercises and fun, sustainable and memorable warm-ups. From there, I begin to prep them for their first solo performances. I offer studio-wide performance opportunities for new and experienced students to show off their skills! As they progress, I teach to their interests and needs. At 15 years old I had the privilege to study with world class concert pianist the summer of 2016 at an Intensive program. Being mentored by alumni of Juilliard, Oberlin Conservatory, and Curtis Institute, allowed me to really stay focused on my musical studies and inspired me in the best way possible. For beginner students, we start off using the beginning books from "Piano Adventures" by Faber Faber, and published by Hal Leonard. They learn to read music, improvise, music theory, and play all style of music. A typical lesson for an elementary school student would be 10 min of playing assigned pieces that they've practiced for the week, 10 min of new songs for the next week, 5 min of music theory, and 5 min of some sort of musical game.
