My methods are executed with one core value in mind: create a life long learner and lover of music. This means I establish the fundamentals of theory with beginning students and reinforce them with intermediate students. Before an instrument is played, the concepts of rhythm, note value, and scales must be approached in an engaging way. With collaboration over curriculum, I would work with the student to find his/her interests and inspiration, making the journey worthwhile and fun! Read More

Lessons with me will be laid-back but focused. Each student will receive an individualized curriculum based upon their needs/wants from their lessons. Believe me, I've had some bone-dry teachers in the past, and if you're not having fun and liking what you're doing, you're most likely going to forget the lesson you just had. We're going to learn by having fun and doing what I love most! Read More

A native of Seattle, Christine began her musical studies as a classically-trained trumpet player. Moving to Chicago and collaborating with jazz colleagues led her to pursuing a master’s degree in vocal jazz. She was accepted into one of the nation’s leading jazz institutions, the University of North Texas. There she focused on her new passion for singing, honing her skills in piano, songwriting, arranging, and improvisation. Since completing her master’s, Christine has enjoyed teaching piano, voice, trumpet, and theory to students of all ages. Read More

I am currently a fourth year student at DePaul University and I will be going onto my fifth year at the school as I am double majoring in Music Education and Vocal Performance, and double minoring in Psychology and Community Service Studies. I am originally from Ukraine and immigrated to the United States in 2009. My passion for classical singing, and classical music in general, began early in my childhood, as the films I would watch as a child were set to classical music. Read More

I've also found that a combination of classical and modern music can go a long way in helping students enjoy the piano and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. If a student isn't having fun in their lessons, then I'm not doing my job! My students are encouraged to enter competitions and recitals, as well as work on composing their own original material, so they can feel good about their accomplishments and stay motivated to learn. While instructing private voice students, I teach the functional approach to singing. This mindset allows the vocalist to focus on singing freely in all genres. I believe it is important to not only teach a wide variety of repertoire, but to also inform my students on vocal health. Along with a functional approach to the voice, I promote a safe and welcoming environment to make music in. If a student does not feel comfortable in the space they are in, then they will not perform to their fullest potential and I would not have completed my job. Read More

Nothing makes me happier than watching a student progress and develop a passion for music. Therefore I think its important to let students grow and develop at their own pace. Setting realistc goals, acknowleging accomplishments, and challenging a student helps fuel their passion and increase their confidence! If a student has passion and confidence, tailoring lessons to their specific needs is easy! Read More
