I started teaching music lessons back when I was 14, when friends would ask for tips or lessons, and local parents wanted lessons for their children. I fell in love with the act of helping others to realize the music inside them, and have been teaching consistently ever since. Learning any musical instrument involves learning about oneself. After my own experience with it as well as teaching it, Suzuki has great techniques and music for getting students experience in sight-reading, ear training, and memorization. With the youngest students I start with the fundamentals such as naming the different parts of the instrument and some basic rules with notes. Acronyms and games are always the best way to memorize the different rules. I write out detailed lessons plans for each individual student, constructed specifically for their learning process. I taught several competitive dance teams to children of all ages, as well as teaching private voice lessons to fellow choir members, friends, and fellow pageant contestants. I was Head of Vocal Studies at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts from 2004-2009 and then at the Macau Polytechnic Institute. I also presented Masterclasses in China and around Asia.
