In 2003, I graduated from Ignalina Music School with a certificate in Lithuanian Harp (zither) and classical vocal performance. Although I am a classically trained soprano, I have experience both singing and teaching Musical Theatre and contemporary styles of singing. I am open to helping my students achieve what interests them and makes them happy. I also believe that singing is highly physical and I help all of my students with physical exercises to help them become more aware of their bodies and build strength in certain places while releasing others, especially in the belly and abdomen (a place singers often hold so much tension). These exercises are based mostly on Qi-Gong moves which also facilitate smooth, even breathing. I like to build units or goals for each student when private teaching . It helps me and the student know what needs to be worked on. I also tend to be a visual instructor , meaning I like to use tricks to teach students different vocal technique. Although I do not mind accommodating to a students needs if their instruction is to be taught differently. For young piano students I'm a fan of John Thompson method books. I get the student through beginners and then through at least the Grade 1 book. Then I introduce beginner piano literature books to help the student see a real music book. I work on music theory and how to map out a piece of music to learn it better. We start talking about musical style as well. For adults I use basically the same method but usually start with the Alfred all-in-one book. Read More
