Using historical imagery and references of the natural world that surrounds us, is very effective way to help children understand music. For younger students, I use a variety of material but very much like The Royal Conservatory Program. In the age of, "American Idol", "The Voice" and "Glee", everyone wants to be a star overnight. Young children literally have a small voice so they cannot produce the same volume or quality of sound as an adult. For young children that are ready to start training, the lessons are structured to avoid straining the voice. The music chosen for young students is age-appropriate, lyric-appropriate and within the range of a young voice.
