I'm a guitarist currently based out of Bridgewater, New Jersey with 10+ years of experience, currently looking to begin a career as a guitar teacher. A guitar hobbyist since my teen years, I recently graduated from Drew University of a Bachelor of Arts degree in music. While at Drew, I also performed in the Jazz Ensemble, which greatly honed my skills in harmony, rhythm, and improvisation as well as greatly expanded my musical palette, and performed on campus at least once a semester. I am an enthusiastic music teacher and musician who has taught hundreds of private students, college classes at UCSD, and elementary school classes with Afterschool Entichment Solutions. In addition to general music education, I teach guitar, bass guitar, ukulele, double bass, piano, vocals, music theory, ear training, and notation to students of all ages. I have been teaching since I was 16 years old, and became very devoted to teaching after I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Music from Penn State. Read More

The most rewarding part of being a teacher is to see your students grow and love their musicianship. Music is a language that is more universal than any other language in the world! Passing on the knowledge and works of composers and artists from yesterday to today. I set realistic goals for my students that are achievable and rewarding. I tend to look on the positive side of each performance and I teach through kindness humor and respect. Read More

I like to lay a foundation for what musical notes are and how they relate to the instrument. If we're on guitar I will draw a piano keyboard and give the student the guitar string names and make them figure out the rest of the notes. Then I teach them what chords are and, now that they know their way around a fretboard, they can build the chords themselves. While most students aren't total beginners and won't need all of this groundwork to be laid by me, I've found that almost everyone has gaps in knowledge, more often than not when it comes to actual note names and the music theory behind the instrument. My favorite skill level to teach are intermediate guitarists who are looking to take their skills to the next level. I use an interdisciplinary course of study that touches upon several different styles and music theory applications. Diversity is one of the most important parts of leveling up one's skill level, so I try to encourage intermediate players to consider looking at several styles, including classical, jazz, rock, blues, and of course my main specialty, metal. Depending on your level of experience that you are currently at; I design custom lessons that work on developing your technique and understanding about your instrument. That is a luxury we have with the guitar, which is something that makes it different from almost every other instrument, and in my mind, just being a "chord player" is an acceptable goal for a certain type of student. Just to clarify, I would never say that reading is not important. It is very important to people like me, as a jazz player, and I take it very seriously, as do many of my students. Read More
