As a teacher, I like to instill as much passion for music as I possible can. I enjoy seeing students develop their love of music as well as their ability to play their specific instrument. Therefore I like to make lessons as fun as possible but also grounded in a seriousness about music and a respect for the process of music making. I think that students advance fastest when they gain a curiosity for their instrument as well as the music that that play on it. Read More

My teaching style is totally focused on the goals and aptitude of the student, as well as any personal matters that might interfere with the learning process. An example of the latter is a student who might have a high level of anxiety due to their past learning experiences. Every effort is made to understand the students anxiety, and help them overcome it, rather than add to it, in any way. Read More

My teaching experience began at age 16, when a family friend asked if I would teach her daughter violin. I instantly found a love for the challenge of teaching, and the joy when a student experiences success. I have taught privately in a myriad of settings: music stores, music studios, and in students' homes. In high school, I was accepted into a music program that prepared me for entering college as a Music Education major. Read More

I have extensive experience as a private teacher (25+ years). I teach cello, violin/viola, and piano and have taught students ages 5-65. I also have prepared students for specialized middle school and high school auditions, pre-college programs, and other auditions. In addition to private teaching, currently, I teach group string classes in Harmony Program NYC. Since I play the piano I'm often the accompanist for my students' recitals. My students are encouraged to enter competitions and recitals, as well as work on composing their own original material, so they can feel good about their accomplishments and stay motivated to learn. As an educator, I create a safe and healthy environment for learning. Realistic goals are set in consultation with students and are dependent on a variety of factors (work schedule, home life, travel, etc.) With consistent attendance and outside preparation, students will understand the principles of proper cello playing technique, gain the ability to read music notation, understand basic concepts of music theory, and learn how to apply practical and healthy practicing habits. I am a third-year undergrad at NYU, studying Music Education with a concentration in instrumental performanceand I love it! Currently, I am working on the last of my classwork before student teaching full time. I hope to graduate in May 2024 with a B.M. in Music Education and my NYSED pK-12 certification. I play clarinet with the NYU Wind Symphony, where I'm also Operations Manager, as well as the NYU Orchestra 2, Tisch New Theater pit orchestra, and as a soloist. Read More

For beginners, I always reincorporate very crucial skills to possess with constant repetition (i.e.: intonation, posture, bow technique, finger positioning). On top of this, I build on rhythm. Many times, parts of my lessons include simply clapping, so that students get a grasp for rhythm and constantly improve upon it. In terms of classical training, for me, knowing the "feeling" of the piece is key. By building upon this feeling, I introduce different styles and different techniques that the student can learn.
