I have been teaching private lessons for 10 years. Encouraging students to practice regularly and to have fun with their instrument is essential for the learning process. I stress the importance of these two things so that the student may develop a love for music and their instrument of choice. Also, being able to teach a variety of musical styles keeps students wanting to learn. I encourage students to not only learn written pieces, but to create their own music and individual sound. Together we will create a custom lesson plan including things like scales, etudes, solos, excerpts, and covers. I like to direct students to play scales and etudes with drones that can be found online or from an app. and can offer many more helpful practice techniques. I can teach classical bass, piano, and cello, as well as pop/rock bass, piano, cello, or vocal performance. I also teach music composition, performing and arranging covers, and can coach any instrument for specific performances. Read More

Every lesson plan I make is customized to a student's interests, learning needs, and age. I combine a combination of technique focus and repertoire learning in each lesson. As students progress, their plans are updated to reflect their growth as a musician. I like to involve students directly in the goal planning process and keep them regularly updated about where they are on meeting their goals. Furthermore, teaching sustainable, healthy, and effective practice techniques is a core part of how I teach. Read More

From my experience, students vary greatly in musical background, personality, and needs, so I view each new student as a blank slate. My philosophy has always been to patiently build a solid foundation and not rush into advanced pieces at the risk of accumulating bad habits. At the same time, I recognize how important it is to keep learning fun, so I negotiate the balance accordingly. The material I use consists mainly of Suzuki and Rick Mooney's technique books, with other supplementary books and pieces depending on the student's needs. Read More

In every student/teacher partnership I undertake, we work together to explore how the brain works consciously and subconsciously to interpret and assimilate information so that when we play the instrument we move and produce sound with integrity. Lessons are always based on questions, dialogue, feedback, and interaction in order to organically meet students needs in the most effective and positive way possible. Read More

Hello, and welcome to my studio! I love to make music with my students! I teach technique, theory and performance by using music that appeals to them. I always look for new ways to teach. My goal is to create a comfortable yet challenging learning environment in which every student is successful. My teaching style is enthusiastic and caring. I believe that the best way to encourage students to practice is to teach music that they want to play, to have them perform, to challenge them with beautiful music and to use technology to support practicing.
