My methods vary depending on the level of the student. I heavily emphasize fundamentals with beginning students, and I try and make them understand the importance of the essectial rudiments and hand coordination before moving on to the drum set. With intermediate and advanced students I emphasize drum set, while still practicing the fundamentals. I hope to teach more advanced students to learn the confidence and skill to play with a band and learn how to approach songs from a musical, rather than simply technical, point of view. Read More

I am a recent graduate of Berklee College of music in Boston with 10 years of teaching experience, and 22 years playing experience. I have won multiple drum competitions and have experience performing in all styles from jazz (Phil Woods) to folk (Jay Ungar and Molly Mason). I first got excited about the drums from watching local bands play in my hometown of Ithaca, NY. There is however a useful combination of selected literature, excerpts, solos, exercises and play alongs in addition to anything the student wants or has to work on. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! I find it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. Upon my graduation I was accepted into Berklee College of Music on a merit-based scholarship and received my Bachelors of Music in Drumset Performance.
