Beginning students can learn their favorite songs or styles of music, while getting a basic foundation in rudiments and syncopation. Advanced students can structure the lesson in a way they would find the most beneficial to their playing style and interests. I like to find out what a student's interests are and build off that. I love to go in different directions and I want to teach students what they want to learn! Read More

My teaching experience began in college. I enjoy introducing great music to others. That is what motivated and inspired me to practice regularly, which is very essential to becoming a skilled musician. I love being able to administrate a fun and healthy outlet for my students' creative energy. Seeing my students grow makes me proud and I look forward to teaching students from Musika. I use many different tools to help my students grow and learn. Read More

With beginners, I focus on the fundamentals like working out of George L. Stone's 'Stick Control' and introducing rudiments while focusing on overall technique. I also work out of a book called 'A Funky Primer', which is a drum set book that has hundreds of different beat combinations. Depending on how the student progresses and what their overall goals are, I eventually begin to introduce difference genres and styles and more complex and challenging approaches to the drum set. I have been teaching private lessons since 2016, and I have experience with all ages ranging from 11 to 45. While at Slippery Rock University, I assisted in the jazz camp held every year for high schoolers around the state. Part of my undergraduate degree was taking a pedagogy class for an entire semester which consisted of a variety of teaching methods. I have studied music from many teachers over the years who use a variety of styles and methods. Read More

I've been teaching guitar for the past four years and drums for 10. My favorite thing about teaching is when a student gets to a playing level they didn't think possible. Seeing the transformation is the most rewarding part of the job for me, because I know first hand how good it feels to improve and progress. To see that same sense of acomplishment in others makes me happy because I know the lessons and skills learned are life long and invaluable. Read More

My teaching does not cut corners. I often tell young students to watch the movie "Karate Kid" and play close attention to the "Wax on, wax off" scenes. (Fortunately, there are practice supplements using play along tracks that make this process more fun and less tedious). I not teach "songs", but I do teach the language of drumming and the language of music. I am an advanced reader and all of my students will be required to read at least some music, however I do understand that many students learn by ear. Read More

Hello! I am a 22-year-old drummer and graduate of Belmont University's School of Music. I've been playing drums for the last 12 years all while playing local shows, touring, and teaching others how to do the same thing. I'm originally from a small town in rural southern Minnesota where I was in the marching band, jazz bands, and choirs as well as playing in a touring band with my friends. While I lived in Minnesota I also attended music camps at McNally Smith and Berklee College of Music. Read More
