Each student has a reason for wanting to take lessons and incorporating that into the lessons will give the student more drive to practice. Very few musicians are virtuosos and can pick up an instrument day one! I require metronome skill practice...you are expected to have excellent meter as a Percussionist! For beginners, I'll want to teach basic music reading and rudiments on the snare drum along with Metronome.
