For a beginning student on guitar, I have them learning notes from a Hal Leonard, Mel Bay, or Alfred starter book. All these books are great, but I believe it depends on the individual student and how they learn. I also teach tab to beginners. I feel it is important to read tabs these days as well as notes. I also work with music theory. It is also important to know what you are doing, not just putting your fingers on the strings. Read More

For beginners, I like to start my students off by Practicing out of Ted Reed's Syncopation and George Lawrence Stone's Stick Control. From these books, we will learn basic Sight reading, Rhythms, cordination and technique . I began my relationship with much when I starting playing drums at age 7. I played in percussion in school bands for a few years then I found the drum set. I found discipline and independence through the drum set, and soon started learning guitar and piano. I attended Berklee College of Music for Contemporary Writing & Production, with a focus in Drumset performance. While at Berklee, I played drumset/percussion in musical theater productions for other Boston colleges (Boston Conservatory, Emerson) and played with local bands in the Boston area. Read More

We are all lovers of music in one way or another. It's my thought to help students develop a love of learning the art of playing an instrument and being connected to the music in such a direct way. I'm very patient with a students challenges and always encourage them to never give up. I always want to stress that each one of our voices matter when creating music. My teaching style is also about having multi media available for the student to either, see, hear and experience different forms of music in our lessons. Read More

For beginning students, I start with a method book that provides them with both aural, visual, and kinesthetic instruction. In addition, I work with my students to develop a curriculum that is high individualized and caters to their needs and, more importantly, their interests. For intermediate and advanced students, I focus on repertoire, etudes, and coordination studies, in order to build technique while learning the standard repertoire pieces. All of my lessons are student directed, and thus each lesson is unique. Read More

First and foremost, Will believes that each student is different. Each student has different priorities and learns differently. Regardless of just starting on the drums as a kid or seeking some fine-tuning as a more seasoned player, Will allows the student to discover and foster their own strengths- it's this confidence that allows the student to dig into their weaknesses in a practical manor without feeling discouraged. Additionally, this allows the student to have specific focus on a topic when practicing on their own time and sets realistic expectations. Read More
