I have been teaching private drums lessons for more than 15 years now. My students have been from all ages and different proficiency levels, which has given me the experience of adapting myself to a variety of the students' learning approaches. My academic teaching experience also encompasses teaching as: *Assistant for Undergraduate Small Jazz Ensembles at The City College of New York 2012-2014. *Drumset/Ensemble Instructor at MM-Summer/ Winter Music Camp with students of ages 7-16 since 2014. *Accompanist/ Ensemble Assistant in the Voice Department at Berklee College of Music. One of the greatest sources of joy and exhilaration I have experienced throughout my teaching career occurs every time one of my students performs, and I get to witness the hard work and determination they have implanted into their playing. Every time they smile while playing their instrument is the single most rewarding feeling I have encountered in my years as a teacher, and I relish the opportunity to bask in that feeling every chance I get. For me, witnessing the "ah-hah" moment in a student's face is priceless. It means that a certain concept or idea has been understood by the student. I use the first lesson to find out what the student is inspired by and what aspect of their playing they wish to improve on depending on their age and skill level. Once I find out what inspires them, I'll be better informed as how to keep them inspired and moving towards certain goals. Read More

My teaching style is based on few important axioms such as getting a proper technique and posture, expanding musical awareness and creativity, and having an open mind to different music and cultures. From that, I love to set goals with the student and work towards it. I will usually bring some work each lesson, and always leave space for something that the student wants to explore. I really want the student to be engaged and to be inspired. Read More

One thing I strongly encourage is the student to go at his/her pace. There is no judgement on the capability of learning an instrument and because of that I completely understand how long (or how short) a student can learn the drums/piano etc. I try to make every student feel accomplished in a session especially when the material being taught is new and intimidating. But regardless, there will always be a sense of accomplishment because as long as the student feels as if they accomplished something(small or large) I will make it my duty to make sure they know it. I am in love with music and I believe that is the most essential thing to convey to the student. To show up with energy, enthusiasm, and a genuine desire to share the knowledge that I have gained from others who exhibited the same enthusiasm towards me is beyond rewarding. I am very deliberate about what I assign for students to practice, and I like to make a timeline of where I'd like the student to be at certain points in time. Read More

My method is to teach in a way where the student can develop their own style while learning the basics of theory and technique. Depending on the skill level the student is currently comfortable with will determine where we will start. I like to make sure my students understand the first position of the instrument before moving on. We will learn this position by playing songs and developing a unique playing style for the student.
