For beginning students, I typically start with materials from Mel Bay or Hal Leonard. Once a student has completed this, I begin to offer materials that are more specific to the musical genre that they have stated interest in. As a student progresses, I work to expose them to a variety of techniques with a focus on helping them to develop their own unique voice on their instrument. My hope is that, during this process, students would come to view growing in their musical gifts as an enjoyable and fulfilling process that continues throughout their life. Read More

My experience takes me straight out of high school. I have been a drum tech at West Johnston High School since Fall of 2015. Since then I've risen in the ranks and have taken a much bigger role. In between all of that, I've all taught at Wake Christian Academy as Percussion director for about a year. I've given a couple of students from that school private lessons and I've encouraged all of them to become better and more educated in the marching arts! Read More

I have been playing the drum kit for 20 years, and have taught drum kit and snare drum for 10. Throughout high school I played in every ensemble that had a percussion section or drum kit. After graduation I attended Berklee College of Music in Boston.I have been performing live since I was in middle school in many ensemble settings ranging from jam band to metal. My principle style is jazz (bop/post-bop). Read More

Teaching must be a two way street between the instructor and the student. There must be an understanding of the relationship and a willingness on both ends to take everything that they can out of the experience. I believe once this is done, a relationship can start to form between the two which will naturally help in the learning progress. For adults especially, constructive criticism is just as important as the praise when you do a good job. Read More

As a musical educator, I firmly believe in simultaneously ecouraging my students as a push them far past whatever limits they may have had at the beginning. While doing this, I've also realized that each student eventually reaches an "ah ha" moment in their time of learning with me. This happens when the student begins to come into his/her own "musical identity." As crazy as it may sound, I never teach my student how to play, look like or to sound like "me" as I'm teaching them. There is no better reward than seeing my students develop a passion for music! My goal in lessons is primarily to equip students to know how to practice and have fun at the same time. Because that is the key for success ! The level of achivement in anything is a reflection of how well we were able to focus on it ! Because the only thing that is holding you back is the way you're thinking. Read More

My teaching experience started In my first job back in 2014, when I was a choir director and music teacher in percussion and music initiation In the Orchestral and Choir system for Children and Teenagers Fundamusical Simón Bolivar known as "El sistema" from Venezuela. Since them, I,ve been constantly teaching public and private lessons to children and teenagers of all ages. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument.
