My expertise is vast -- encompassing hundreds of performances in a variety of styles from operatic/classical to loud and rowdy rock to sublime Christian church music (old and new); encompassing over a decade's worth of teaching experience, from ages 6 to 72 (so far), on several instruments AND voice. My degrees include theory, composition, and singing, but I have been a composing, improvising, sight-reading pianist from childhood on. I have played guitar (including as a successful, gigging musician -- solo, ensemble, and musical theater) for over 20 years. Read More

My name is Mario and I've been drumming for over 10 years. I love music, and sharing that love through teaching how to play is my passion. My heaviest influences are My Chemical Romance, Sublime, and Led Zeppelin. Which is to say, my range covers a wide range of genres. Though I am new to professionally teaching, I've played at various churches throughout my life. As a musician, I understand the frustration of learning a new instrument. Read More

I performed in shows on cruise ships and on Miami Beach, jazz in restaurants , island music, all varieties of "club dates". I was the bandleader at The Grove Club in Coconut Grove Fl. Throughout these years I continued to pursue my education at The University of Maimi and teach private drum lessons at Carroll Music in Miami, Fl. Read More

I am very enthusiastic about teaching. I try to make the experience for my students as rewarding for them as possible. It is such a wonderful thing when students develop a passion for music. I strongly encourage them to pursue their interests. My teaching style is methodical but very practical. I believe it is crucial that each student progresses at their own pace. I like to set realistic short term goals for my students. This makes the students eager to learn more and progress further on their musical journey. Read More

I love to watch a student progress. It gives me such joy to see them happy. I always evaluate every student and I set for them small and realistic goals. I explain to them that in order to achieve a certain goal you must first obtain the facility by practicing the exercises assigned to them. Sometimes its hard for small children to understand why they are doing a certain exercise so I explain to them and show what the drummer is doing on a certain performance they want to emulate and in order to achieve that, they must go through the exercises assigned. I have also taught all styles of music including rock, jazz, blues, country, and classical. I have taught students from the ages of 5 up to 80 years old. I also did guitar clinics for a number of guitar companies including JB Player Guitars, Cool Picks Guitar Picks, and Hohner Guitars for six years. Read More

For younger students I start with showcasing what they can achieve with practice and perseverance. I do that by showing my playing. Then we start with the chromatic scale so the fingers can get use to the strings and moving around the fretboard. Same with drums but we start with easy hits and patterns. For adults I would talk about what are their interest and goal in music (genre, style, job, etc) and go from there. Read More
