I'll usually create a lesson plan that'll focus on all basic fundamentals that are goal-focused, while incorporating songs that'll help reinforce those mechanics! While I was still in high school in 1995, I began giving drum lessons to neighborhood kids. After a while, I realized it was something I could really get into. Before even graduating, I taught 10-12 steady students for quite a long time. Some of the neighborhood kids studied with me until they went to college. I've been playing drums for 48 years. I'm still enjoying the playing of drums, and searching for new knowledge on how to play better. I've toured and performed with great musicians. I am a long-time musician and educator; I have been doing both professionally since I was sixteen-years-old. My first student was my band director's son. My first gig was with a polka band. I now have a masters degree in ethnomusicology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a masters degree in music performance from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee along with a certificate of advanced study in chamber music.
